An integral part of high school is learning about yourself and developing yourself as an individual. Some things are better taught and learned outside of a classroom or textbook. A great way to do this is by getting involved outside of academics! Extracurricular activities can include anything that allows you to explore your hobbies or even get you to learn something new. Here are some ways that students get involved in high school!
Clubs/Teams.
High schools often have many clubs run by students. Some of them revolve around interests, academics, sports, etc. They usually have meetings, plan events, and are a great way to make friends. High schools usually have boys and girls sports team that you can join by trying out. It is also a great way to be healthy and exercise!
Get a job.
Many basic jobs start hiring at the age of 16 years old. Getting a job is a great way to learn responsibility, learn the value of hard work, and get some experience earning money.
Volunteer work.
Many high schools require students to complete a certain number of hours of community service or volunteering. Volunteering is a good use of time and is a way for you to get involved in the community. Some of the popular places that high school students like to volunteer are the library, senior centers, elementary schools, etc.
Being involved is an amazing way to build character and show colleges that there is more to you than just academics!
